We spent some time wandering around the LA Auto Show, checking out all the cars, trucks, and SUVs on display. One thing that caught our attention was the announcement of the finalists for the 2025 North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year (NACTOY) awards. These awards always highlight some of the best vehicles out there, and it’s fun to see what made the cut this year.
For the cars, the finalists included the Honda Civic Hybrid, Kia K4, and Toyota Camry. The Civic Hybrid looks like a great option if you're into hybrids, and the Camry is still one of those solid cars that just works for pretty much anyone. The Kia K4 was interesting, with a bit of style that stands out compared to the others.
On the truck side, the finalists were the Ford Ranger, Ram 1500, and Toyota Tacoma. The Ranger and Tacoma are both really versatile, and they look ready for anything from hauling gear to weekend camping trips. The Ram 1500 stood out for how comfortable it looks inside while still being a tough truck.
For the utility vehicles, it was the Chevrolet Equinox EV, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Volkswagen ID. Buzz. The Equinox EV is clean and modern, and the Santa Fe has an upgraded look this year that feels a little more upscale. The ID. Buzz was definitely fun to see in person—it’s got that retro vibe but with a totally modern electric drivetrain.
It’s always cool to see so many different vehicles in one place, and the finalists this year covered a lot of ground.
